Positive Behaviour Support
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a person-centred approach to people who may be at risk of displaying challenging behaviours. It is a proactive, evidence-based approach grounded in behavioural science, and seeks to understand the reasons behind behaviours so that the focus can be on teaching new skills to replace the behaviours that challenge. It considers the person as a whole and the environment in which they are living - their life history, physical health and emotional needs.
The overall aim of Positive Behaviour Support is to improve the quality of the person’s life and the quality of life for those around them.
At Positive Behaviour Solutions I will look at the whole environment, not just the person displaying the challenging behaviour. This may involve providing psychoeducation on Neurodivergence to help understand your child's behavioural differences. It may also involve making changes to your own interaction style, your responses to the challenging behaviour, and the relationship between the individual and their environment.
